Welcome Letter 2020

Read the Winter/Spring 2020 welcome letter from Lisa Barton, OLLI Director, and Bill Furtwangler, OLLI Leadership Council President.

Hello OLLI-UM Friends!

Welcome to our winter/spring/summer term! In addition to another outstanding selection of lectures, study groups, out-of-town trips, and evening events, there are several new learning opportunities:

Join authors for three OLLI Reads events, including OLLI-UM’s co-hosting Dr. Robin DiAngelo, author of White Fragility. Take on the reigning champs of last year’s spelling bee as we partner with the Children’s Literacy Network. Check out The Buzz: An Adult Spelling Bee.

We are pleased to offer an extraordinary series on Climate Change this term. This once-a-month series to be held on Fridays will include world-class presenters and culminates with a light lunch and Climate Action Expo following the May program.

OLLI U-M is piloting four Shared Interest Groups (SIGS) this term. SIGS bring together individuals who have a common interest that they wish to pursue. The content is designed primarily by the members of the SIG and supported by a designated facilitator. SIGS allow us to pursue interests we are passionate about and are very popular across the country at other OLLIs.

We hope that you will join us at the Winter Open House on January 13th from 10am-12:30pm. Learn more about upcoming offerings, visit with friends, and register before our registration lottery begins on January 14. Bring a friend or two!

OLLI programming is developed by volunteers. We hope that you will consider getting involved in any way... help create a lecture, try out a committee meeting, provide warm greetings to other OLLI members at OLLI events, help in the OLLI of ce, etc. The possibilities are unlimited.

OLLI is happy to support scholarships for all offerings, supported by the OLLI Development Committee and our generous OLLI member donors.
