Distinguished Lecture Committee
The Distinguished Lecture Committee is looking for OLLI members who wish to join the committee and help choose upcoming speakers. The Committee reviews approximately 80 to 90 speakers annually to fill 10 monthly slots for the following fiscal year from September 2021 to June 2022.
The criteria for selection is based on speakers who are articulate and have an interesting subject to share with our OLLI audience. Our annual meeting will take place by Zoom in January 2021.
If you decide to become a member of the Distinguished Lecture Committee, you will join a group of OLLI members who have enjoyed fellowship and working as a team.
Please email email@example.com to share your interest.

Shared Interest Group (SIGs)
SIGs are a new offering from OLLI – the first ones started during the winter of 2019-2020. A SIG consists of a group of people with a shared interest to meet at regular intervals. A SIG can involve a shared physical activity (cycling on trails), a shared craft (needlework) or some form of a discussion group (medical ethics) or a combination of discussion/education sessions and physical activity sessions. A SIG is proposed and started by a facilitator but evolves into a long-term community of people who work together to plan and partake in meetings. An OLLI SIG will also include an educational component which can be provided by any of the community members. Unlike other OLLI programs, a SIG is designed to function long-term, not just for a semester or a year.
If you want to start a new SIG, please send e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or call (734) 998-9351.
Social Interaction Committee
The Social Interaction Committee needs help with:
- The Commons: supporting start up of a group, collaborating with staff to organize the calendar, ensuring all components are advertised regularly.
- The January 2021 virtual Winter Open House: contributing experience in online program development, collaborating with chair and staff on technology design and use, creating draft copy for the December 2020 Winter/Spring catalog.
